Daniel’s eyeglass prescription was too strong for LASIK eye surgery, but when he realized he couldn’t see the details of his wife’s face, he knew it was time to search for an alternative. He came to Brinton Vision in St. Louis, Missouri where Dr. Jason P. Brinton performed an eye surgery called SMILE, which was developed specifically for people with vision too poor for other refractive surgery. He now sees better than 20/20 without glasses or contacts. We’ll let him tell you the rest!
My name is Don Ablev and I recently had SMILE laser eye surgery here at Brinton Vision about a week and a half ago. It’s been an absolute miraculous life since, honestly.
My vision is better than 20/20 now. As I was growing up, it definitely was not that. It was very bad. It got worse and worse as I was growing up to the point that I’m not 24 and I could barely just a few weeks ago see my wife from across the room. Even from five feet away, I could barely see the details of her face to see what she looked like. Not blind, but not good sight. This surgery was 20 minutes, very quick, very easy, and miraculous. God’s work. Definitely God’s work. I see perfectly now, thank God.
Together, we just found out who we thought would be the most qualified in St. Louis. We came to the conclusion it was definitely Dr. Brinton based on his previous experience and where he went to school, and where he is working now and how he’s doing now. It just seemed like the right thing to do.
Got to weigh the positives and the negatives for sure, and I won’t lie. For a few hours afterward, your eyes are dry and your vision is not perfect. Just for a few hours. And then maybe it’s a little dry when you wake up at night, but the next day, it’s like you’re a new person with completely new eyes. It only gets better from there.
I would say for me, as I was weighing in or weighing out whether to do this surgery or not, I was also weighing out the positives or negatives, and I thought to myself, one uncomfortable evening is definitely worth the rest of my life having perfect vision.
Dr. Brinton and everyone here who works with him here at Brinton Vision, thank you so, so much. You’re an amazing team. You work very, very well together. It was a very pleasant experience, and most of all, you made a miracle happen. You made a very big miracle happen. For me, being an observant Jewish person, I definitely am very into having a relationship with God and thinking about how God runs my life, and I think this is an absolutely amazing revealed miracle that God made for me and could make for anybody who decides to have the surgery done.
