Nancy Young talks about her Inlay eye surgery at Brinton Vision, which she had in November 2016. She is thrilled with her results and how it has made life easier without glasses or contacts. She hasn’t looked back since!
I started wearing glasses in my early 40s. I’m an avid reader and I just noticed that the book kept getting further and further and further away until my arm wasn’t long enough anymore. I bought a pair of just over-the-counter reading glasses, and then I progressed to going to see the optometrist and getting prescription lenses, and even went from there for distance vision also.
I tried to do contacts, but I could never get adjusted to them so I just stuck with the glasses. My frustrations with glasses are that I run, so they would always — I couldn’t wear them running. If I did, they would slide around, they’d bounce around, and you still couldn’t really see that well when I was trying to look at a running watch.
I have sinus issues, and the glasses would give me terrible sinus headaches from sitting on my nose and blocking my sinuses. The thought of not having glasses or contacts and, you know, being close to what my vision always was before, was just too good to pass up.
I wasn’t nervous at all. I felt like I understood what was going to go on, so the next day I went back to work. Actually the night of the procedure, my son had a cross-country banquet, and I attended that, and without my eye makeup, but other than that it just was business as usual, life as normal.
Everybody has been just very personable and very friendly, very attentive. That day, the day of the procedure I got a couple of texts from Dr. Brinton asking how I was doing, you know, following up on with me. I couldn’t be more complimentary to the staff and the way things have gone here.
I run and I can see my actual distance and my pace. I ran a race this weekend and I was able to tell myself I need to pick up my pace because I could see on my watch that I was slowing down, and that was something I had never been able to do before. Not had my glasses back on since the day of the procedure.
