Brinton Vision – Lasik St. Louis

Jonathan T. Thayer, OD

Dr. Jonathan Thayer is a St. Louis native. He graduated magna cum laude from Truman State University in 2019 with a major in Exercise Science, a minor in Biology, and a Pre-medical concentration. During his university time he was awarded NCAA Scholar All-American for Swimming and Diving. After university, Dr. Thayer returned home to St. Louis where he attended the University of Missouri—St Louis College of Optometry.

During his time at the college of optometry, Dr. Thayer was the Missouri Optometric Association (MOA) student president, helping to organize the annual Special Olympics vision screening and St. Louis Care Fair.  He volunteered at SLU Sight community clinic, and he spent his Saturday mornings here at Brinton Vision, refining his refractive surgery knowledge.

“Helping patients achieve their best vision isn’t just a job; it’s a privilege.”

Dr. Thayer graduated in 2024 and was awarded the Clinical Excellence in Low Vision Rehabilitation Award. He then started his career as an optometrist here at Brinton Vision.  Dr. Thayer is a member of the St. Louis Optometric Society (SLOS), American Optometric Association (AOA), and Missouri Optometric Association (MOA).

In his free time, Dr. Thayer enjoys tennis and trips with family to the Lake of the Ozarks. He met his wife, Claire (the other Dr. Thayer), in optometry school.  His latest passion is growing his ever-expanding garden to new heights, and he has aspirations to visit every national park in the country.

Dr. Jonathan Thayer is driven by a deep passion for transforming lives through vision care.

“There’s a profound satisfaction in helping patients who have relied on glasses and contacts for years, or who thought surgery wasn’t an option,” he reflects. “Seeing their newfound freedom with clear vision is incredibly rewarding. I am committed to changing lives through the invaluable gift of sight and eagerly anticipate advancing technologies that enhance our practice.”

Outside of work, Dr. Thayer remains dedicated to community service and cherishes life in St. Louis. Dr. Thayer is expecting his first child in December of 2024.
