“More and more people are seeing the benefits of LASIK eye surgery in St. Louis, which necessitates the need for Brinton Vision to expand.” –Dr. Jason Brinton

Laser Eye Surgery/LASIK in St. Louis

When Brinton Vision opened its doors in November 2016, Dr. Jason Brinton knew he was doing things a little differently. “I was determined to build a patient-centered practice where I could empower patients to make their own choices through technology, education, and the kind of individualized care my grandfather provided,” said the third-generation ophthalmologist.

“I’m thrilled to say that less than three years later, this concept has been embraced so fully that we have outgrown our current space,” said Brinton.

Brinton Vision, located at 555 N. New Ballas Rd. in St. Louis, is adding additional office space on the second floor and adding on to their current third floor suite, more than doubling their clinic size to over 10,000 square feet.

The space will also double the number of patient suites to support Brinton Vision’s three new optometrists—Dr. Morgan Poore, Dr. JJ Lant, and Dr. Taylor Schmidt—as well as another ophthalmologist, Dr. Steven Tersigni. Each new eye doctor was hand-picked by Dr. Brinton for their professionalism and expertise, as well as their ability to build relationships with patients and staff.

The space will also include a workout room and team room with lounge space for staff.

“I have often said that I am incredibly grateful to have found the ‘best of the best’ when it comes to our team. At this point, I think our techs, call team, and other support staff have an energy and caring nature that attracts people who are incredibly dedicated professionals, and who enjoy spending time with each other.”

In 2016, with the help of his wife, Jami, and a small but dedicated staff, Brinton set out to build a first-of-its-kind LASIK center in St. Louis. Not only would patients be greeted by name in a spa-like office where they would receive a drink and snack menu, and where their time was just as respected as the doctor’s schedule; they would also undergo the most comprehensive yet comfortable diagnostic eye exam they’d likely ever had using nine of the most proven, modern diagnostic technologies—and have not one, but seven safe, proven, FDA-approved LASIK and LASIK alternatives at the doctor’s disposal.

Brinton Vision would be St. Louis’s first foray into a new type of concierge medicine. People are likely not getting the cheapest in refractive surgery, but they do get what they pay for—personalized care, solutions customized for their unique eyes, and plenty of time with expert staff whose only prerogative is to provide patients with the information they need to make their own decisions about how they want to see the world for the rest of their lives. They also get a Harvard- and fellowship-trained refractive surgeon whose reputation for excellence and innovation has reverberated around the globe.

Brinton was initially concerned that his vision would be slow to be realized. After all, he was entering into a market saturated with Groupons, coupons and cheap LASIK deals. He became the only full-time LASIK provider in St. Louis to own his own lasers. He also became one of only a handful of surgeons in the United States to provide LASIK plus all six of its modern variations.

“We went the opposite direction. Instead of trying to cut my costs by borrowing lasers and cutting back on diagnostics and staff, I thought to myself, ‘What if I invest in the very best? What if I provide absolute excellence in care—the care I would want for myself and my family—where people know from the minute they make their first phone call to our office that they are important and their eyes are our number one priority?’ I did just that and discovered that not only did people embrace what my team and I are doing, but they’re hungry for it.”

Brinton has had his share of praise, not only from his patients. His awards and distinctions include induction into America’s Top Ophthalmologists by the Consumer Research Council of America; Leading Physicians of the World by the International Association of Healthcare Professional; and Top Doctors in America by Castle Connolly. In 2015, he received global recognition as recipient of the Visian ICL Young Ophthalmologist Award in Barcelona, Spain, and in 2016 was named to the Ocular Surgery News Premier Surgeon 300 Innovators in Refractive Cataract Surgery.

He was chosen to be the first surgeon in the United States to use EVO Toric ICL, and implant the highly popular low-add Tecnis multifocal IOL for Refractive Lens Exchange, and continues to be at the forefront as an early adopter of EVO ICL. Dr. Brinton was the first US surgeon after FDA approval to perform ReLEX SMILE eye surgery, and he was the first in Missouri to perform laser cataract surgery and a hydrogel inlay to address presbyopia. His experience includes teaching surgical techniques to refractive surgeons at international conferences each year.

Not bad for a guy who hands out his personal cell phone number to his patients, and who still picks up the phone to call his patients on the evening of their procedures.

“Our expansion will allow us to provide the kind of care that I envisioned since the moment I decided to focus my career on vision correction,” said Brinton. “We are doubling the amount of space to allow me and my staff to make a very real impact on even more lives through the priceless gift of clear, natural vision.

“Every day, I wake up and nearly pinch myself. I am doing what I love to do, and I’m working with people I enjoy working with every day. I’m grateful that St. Louis has embraced what we’re doing, and that we are able to make a positive difference for our patients.”
