Expectations & Time Commitment

Surgical Technician Role Commitment

The Surgical Technician role requires a significant investment in training and is intended for technicians who are committed to serving in the role through the completion of their Senior Technician year.

Because June and July are the primary training months for incoming technicians, Surgical Technicians are expected to remain in the role through the end of their Senior Technician year and actively participate in training and mentoring new team members during this period.

Planning for Future Commitments

We understand that medical school, graduate school, relocation, and family commitments may require advance planning. We will work with selected Surgical Technicians to accommodate reasonable time-off requests during April and May of their final year whenever possible.

However, candidates should understand that the expectation of this position is to remain actively engaged in the surgical department through their final scheduled workday, which should be as close as reasonably possible to the start of their next educational or professional commitment.

For example, if a technician's medical school orientation begins on a Monday, they would generally be expected to work their final surgery day during the preceding week.
